MPERS Board of Trustee Election

The Municipal Police Employees Retirement System (MPERS) is conducting an
election for District III Trustee right now for the system’s Board of
Trustees.

Only active, commissioned NOPD members are allowed to vote in this
election. Ballots were mailed out last Friday, and must be returned by
Friday, June 13th.

There are only two candidates for this election, Frank Young and Major
Raymond Burkart.

This Trustee position *must *be held by an active New Orleans Police
Department commissioned officer who is also an active member of the MPERS
retirement system. The position is currently held by FOP Past President
Henry Dean, who is not seeking re-election.

This vote will be to elect your MPERS Board of Trustees representative for
a six year term.

We believe it is vitally important that an FOP member fill this seat.
Since both candidates are members of the Fraternal Order of Police, our
Board of Directors voted last Tuesday not to endorse either candidate.

We do ask that every active NOPD FOP member cast their ballot

and please ask or remind the officers in your unit to also vote in this
very important election. If anyone has not received a ballot, they can
contact the MPERS office today by calling (800) 443-4248.

IN ORDER TO ASSURE THEY ARE RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE BALLOTS SHOULD BE
MAILED NO LATER THAN TUESDAY, JUNE 10, 2014.
